ischia cont…
Sunday, July 24th, 2005Thursday 2 June
Started the day walking through the, now derelict Roman Baths with Kate. Scary and beautiful. Time frozen. Quiet. Decaying frescoes in grand vaulted rooms with homeless folk nesting in cardboard boxes. Pidgeons (?) taking flight and scaring us into a scurry out through mazelike rooms and corridor after corridor and finally back onto the bustling street.
Ischia has been famous for its thermal springs over the centuries and bus loads of German tourists arrive on the car ferries throughout Summer to take in the waters. Not to this spot though.
Sailing to Procida (pro-chee-da)…swimming, sleeping.
Friday 3 June
Slow morning
Sleeping in as the bimba prattles, bringing us flowers from the garden and making butterflies
Bus to Porta d Ischia
Wandering into Church with Bea. Concert on here at 21.00 tonight
Later at lunch Bea tells me “God is in love. It’s inside the love heart.”
Lunch right on the edge of the harbour… quiet, sunny, beautiful day. Just Bea and I (Gra came later) La Baia del Clipper… bella mumma, bella bimba
Gra arrives later, orders spaghetti with a lemon cream sauce.
Bea and I have a simple pizza and insalata mista
Playing noughts and crosses.. the waiter singing, reading the Jungle book to bea
